National Karting Championship 2009

MKA

Beresford will be looking at defending the National title for a forth year running.

Beresford has held the NKA National Karting title since 2006 and will be back on the track this weekend in his bid to qualify, and be able to secure himself a place in the quarter finals. The National Karting Championship 2009 is the UK's biggest and most exciting karting competition.

NKA karting circuits will play host to the qualifying stages of the championship. Participants must post their fastest lap times before the chequered flag brings qualifying to a close on Monday August 24th and the serious competition begins. Quarter finals and semi finals will then see participants whittled down to the UK’s top 50 drivers before the smell of burning rubber signals the start of the November finale.

“For most people motor racing is a spectator sport,” said National Karting Championship Coordinator, Will Tew. “But you can’t help dreaming of being in Jenson Button or Lewis Hamilton’s shoes. With the National Karting Championship we aim to create the excitement of top-level motorsport and hopefully progress some drivers into the professional ranks of participation.”

The championship is spread across 3 classes with a fantastic prize in each class.

Cadets 8 - 11 years  -  Juniors 12 - 15 yrs  -  Seniors 16 years+. In each class, drivers will have the chance to win a brand new high performance 2-stroke Easykart, MSA Race License if one not already held, Race Suit, Helmet, Gloves, Boots, and free entry into the entire top-level UK Easykart Championships 2010.

The prizes – the first of their kind anywhere in the world – are each worth over £4000 and present the winners with the opportunity of a life time. Not only will they race in a top-level UK karting series, they will also be in with a chance of being selected by Easykart's prestigious international "Driver Program", which aims to nurture talent and support it all the way up to the world's premier karting categories.

The top drivers from each class at each participating circuit around the country will be invited back to race in the Quarter Finals. The top 8 to 10 drivers from each class at each circuit will then qualify through to race in the Semi Finals. The Semi Finals will be held at selected outdoor NKA circuits in October. The format will be similar to the Quarter Finals, and the top 8 to 10 drivers from each Semi Final will qualify through to the Grand Final in November.

The top drivers in the country, having qualified through the qualifiers, quarter finals and semi finals will now battle it out on the track to become the National Karting Champion of 2009!

BP Ultimate Final Results.

The event started with over 18.000 competitors with the fastest 18 from all over the UK making it through to the BP Ultimate Final. We arrived at the NEC at 9.30am and had a look around the show before making our way over to the track to attend the drivers sign in and take a look at the track lay out. At 1.00pm all finalists had a 20 minutes practice session which included qualifying for the semi finals. I managed to gain 2nd place on the grid for the semis and when the lights went out, i flew straight in to first having an awesome start holding that position until three laps before the flag as Paul Streather pushed me wide and squeezed through so had to settle for second in the semis. So it was final time with the top 9 drivers from the competition lined up with me in forth place on the grid. After one lap i gained Two places putting me right behind Paul who put in an awesome performance, at one stage we were side by side and nearly took the lead but with Darrell Boyle pushing for second place i had to drive defensively to hold the position. After a grueling 25 lap final Paul took 1st place. The race was so close crossing the line 0.800 second behind Paul but pleased with my overall performance to take 2nd place in the first ever BP Ultimate karting championships.
