BP Ultimate Final Results.
The event started with over 18.000 competitors with the fastest 18 from all over the UK making it through to the BP Ultimate Final. We arrived at the NEC at 9.30am and had a look around the show before making our way over to the track to attend the drivers sign in and take a look at the track lay out. At 1.00pm all finalists had a 20 minutes practice session which included qualifying for the semi finals. I managed to gain 2nd place on the grid for the semis and when the lights went out, i flew straight in to first having an awesome start holding that position until three laps before the flag as Paul Streather pushed me wide and squeezed through so had to settle for second in the semis. So it was final time with the top 9 drivers from the competition lined up with me in forth place on the grid. After one lap i gained Two places putting me right behind Paul who put in an awesome performance, at one stage we were side by side and nearly took the lead but with Darrell Boyle pushing for second place i had to drive defensively to hold the position. After a grueling 25 lap final Paul took 1st place. The race was so close crossing the line 0.800 second behind Paul but pleased with my overall performance to take 2nd place in the first ever BP Ultimate karting championships.

Beresford is looking for karting sponsors
WEST Somerset’s answer to Jensen Button is appealing to the local business community to help him in his race to reach the podium and fulfil his true potential.
Professional driver Beresford Mandley, who lives and was brought up in Minehead, is looking for sponsors to fund his next step in motor sport after becoming the 2006/2007 National Karting Association champion.
The 31-year-old is now ready to get behind the wheel of a more powerful kart for his next challenge, and wants to work his way up through the karting series.
Beresford said: I have always been interested in motor sports from a young age and like to try out anything with an engine.
Until 2004, it was just a hobby. I went to a karting event in Avonmouth and ended up setting the fastest lap time.
I then traveled to South Wales to compete in the regional finals and took part in the grand prix and won there and became regional champion.
The national championship was in Warrington where I raced against 54 karters from all over the country.
We had five qualifying heats and managed to secure pole possition for the final and left the others standing and took the chequred flag and winning by six or seven seconds.
His prize for winning 2006 NKA Championship was a pro-train course with an expert instructor to further improve his racing skills and secure a Motor Sport Association licence, which he is hoping to achieve on January 17, 2007 when he travels to Wilton Mill Circuit, in Northants.
Gaining an MSA licence will enable me to get into the next stage of karting where I will be racing at speeds of 100 to 120 mph said Beresford.

To progress to the next level, Beresford is looking for Sponsorship towards his equipment and race suit and he is hoping the prestige of having sponsors names across his kart and suit will prove alluring to local businesses.
Beresford said: I have already received some interest in sponsorship but would like more interest from businesses and hope to help give them more coverage.
He already receives great support from his family with his car-building father as his pit crew.
Beresford is also no stranger to publicity, after being awarded runner-up Limousine Chauffeur of the Year 2005 and voted a top 10 Limousine Chauffeur in Europe in 2006 and being featured in national motor magazines, including being the face behind the Peugeot E7, the model of yellow cab he used to drive.
